  1. Dyansty Stars reunite to support long Covid research

Stars of the 1980s soap opera Dynasty reunited last week to raise funds for Southmead Hospital Charity, to help fund research into long Covid. Star Emma Samms, who has suffered with long Covd since March 2020, brought together 20 dynasty stars, including Linda Evans, Heather Locklear and Jack Coleman. The event was hosted by Radio 1 DJ, Scott Mills which also coincided with the 40th anniversary of the soap opera.

2. Red Nose Day rasies over £52m for Comic Relief

Stars from across the globe united to help raise millions of pounds for Comic Relief. As well as the big names, including Lenny Henry, Alisha Dickson and even Justin Bieber, Schools and businesses also played their part to support Comic Relief. Despite the pandemic, the event still raised over £52m to support charities and causes across the world. There’s still time to donate on their wesbite.

3. Dalek patrols the sea front to raise money for charity

Ian McTeague, from Weston-super-Mare has built a Dalek costume and uses it to bring joy to locals but also raise money for charity. The Dr Who enthusiast, uses his love of sci-fi to entertain locals and raise money for Help for Heroes and Macmillan Cancer Support.

4. Lioness Circle and Better Days inspirational #ChoosetoChallenge event aims to break the silence of women who have suffered from Rape and Sexual Abuse

Following on from IWD2021, a three hour Facebook Live event on 27th March 2021 will aim to enocurage women to break their silence around rape and sexual abuse and share where women can get suport. The event will take place in two parts:

  1. Three black female survivors of Rape/sexual abuse will be discussing our own healing journey - from breaking silence to where we are now - including our key victories and challenges as well our top tips.

  2. We'll be discussing the support available for victims and survivors with key professionals including the police and Sherine Kerr, who is a qualified integrative therapist and BAATN/BACP member.

5. Kemp Hospice win High Sherrif award for their work in the community.

KEMP Hospice have been presented with the High Sheriff of Worcestershire Award in recognition of their work in the local community. The Hopsice supports individuals, families and carers experiencing life limiting conditions and through bereavement. They provide a day hospice, but also go out to people in the community too.
