About SHiFT
SHiFT provides intensive therapeutic care to young people up to the age of 25, who are among the most disadvantaged and vulnerable and are causing the most prolific and damaging harm to themselves and others. SHiFT works with the young individual, their family, friends and community to develop trust and culturally competent relationships that catalyse pro-social change.
The Challenge
To evaluate the impact of their work SHiFT Guides used to complete lengthy spreadsheets for each of their practices to show baseline, midline and endline results for each young person’s wellbeing, conflict with the law and progress in life. Completing the spreadsheets was a time-consuming and demoralising process for the Guides. Often the spreadsheets would be completed late which put pressure on the central SHiFT team to pull together reports for internal and external governance and accountability.
How they use Makerble
SHiFT have created Contact profiles on Makerble for every young person they work with. This lets Guides post updates and track each beneficiaries progress on-the-fly. Guides can use Makerble on their phones so they can gather quantitative data and qualitative anecdotes in-session or while travelling between sessions, which saves time and means information is fresh and immediately available for their colleagues.
SHiFT central team can analyse all the data in one place, calculate distance travelled automatically and understand how each young person changes over time.
